OA-Nene Valley supports local community through Feed Fenland partnership and sleepout event

OA-Nene Valley is proud to be playing a vital role in supporting the local community through its ongoing partnership with Feed Fenland - demonstrating the power of collaboration, compassion and community action.

Food insecurity remains a significant national challenge, with millions of people across the UK affected each year. Locally, Feed Fenland has become a lifeline for many in Wisbech, providing hot meals, clothing and essential items to those who need them most - no questions asked.

As demand increased, the charity faced uncertainty when its previous premises could no longer support its operations. In response, we opened our kitchen facilities, enabling Feed Fenland to continue - and expand - its vital work.

Now operating from the academy six nights a week and serving 100-140 meals a night, the charity has been able to grow its volunteer base. The academy has become a valued hub within the community, helping ensure support reaches those who need it most.

More recently, OA-Nene Valley also supported the second Fenland Sleepout event, bringing together volunteers from Feed Fenland and Street Supplies. Participants spent the night outdoors to raise awareness of homelessness and the challenges many people face.

Despite the cold conditions, the event raised an impressive £1,200 to support the work of both charities - building on the success of last year’s event and continuing to make a difference locally.

With homelessness and financial hardship on the rise, initiatives like this are more important than ever. For OA-Nene Valley, the partnership reflects a deep commitment to giving back, supporting families and strengthening the community it serves.

It is a powerful example of what can be achieved when organisations come together with a shared purpose - and a reminder of what it truly means to be Olive.
