OA-Nene Valley students achieve outstanding qualifications after remarkable journeys

Students at OA-Nene Valley celebrated an exceptional set of examination results, with high levels of achievement across both GCSE and vocational qualifications.

87% of students achieved GCSEs in both English and Maths, with an impressive 100% in English and 87% in Maths.

There was also strong achievement across students’ wider programmes of study, with 93% achieving at least four GCSEs and 73% achieving five or more. The alternative provision average rate of achieving 1 or more GCSE is 49% - showing we are well above sector national averages.

On average, pupils gained an impressive 11 qualifications across a wide range of Level 1 and Level 2 academic and vocational subjects.

These achievements are particularly significant because qualifications form just one part of a much wider journey for our pupils. At OA-Nene Valley, success can mean re-engaging with learning, developing trust in adults, building friendships, becoming more confident or discovering an interest and talent that a student did not know they had.

The academy’s approach is centred on creating a nurturing environment where students feel safe, supported and able to thrive. By combining high expectations with personalised support, students are encouraged to recognise their potential and take positive steps towards their future.

For many, those positive steps are now leading to the next stage of their education. This provides an important opportunity for students to build on the progress they have made and continue developing their skills, interests and aspirations.

This year’s results are a testament to what can happen when students are given the right support, encouragement and opportunities to succeed.

David Saunders, Executive Headteacher, said:

We have watched students overcome barriers, find their confidence and discover that they really can succeed. Their hard work and perseverance have paid off, and I hope they take that same confidence and determination into whatever comes next. They have every right to feel proud of themselves.
